Lessons & FAQs

Learn to drive with confidence in an automatic

Whether you’re starting from scratch, returning to driving or preparing for your test, automatic lessons can make learning feel simpler and more manageable.

With no clutch control or gear changes to think about, you can focus more fully on the road, traffic and developing safe driving habits. We’ll tailor every lesson to your experience, goals and confidence level, helping you make steady progress towards driving independently.

Automatic driving lessons

Build your skills step by step, from moving off and steering to handling busy roads, junctions, roundabouts and different traffic conditions.

Automatic driving can reduce the number of tasks you need to manage at once, helping you concentrate on observation, planning and making safe decisions. Lessons combine clear explanations, practical experience and supportive coaching, so you understand not only what to do, but why it matters.

Test preparation

Prepare with focused practice on the areas that will make the biggest difference to your driving.

We’ll work on challenging situations, improve your consistency and use mock tests where helpful to assess your readiness. The goal is to help you drive safely and confidently, so you can approach your test feeling prepared rather than rushed.

Intensive courses

Make focused progress with a concentrated programme of automatic lessons tailored to your starting point, goals and availability.

We’ll discuss your experience and requirements before agreeing a suitable programme. Intensive lessons can help you build momentum, but they do not guarantee that you’ll be ready for a test by a particular date.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need previous driving experience?

No. Lessons are suitable for complete beginners, returning drivers and learners with previous experience. We’ll establish your starting point and adapt your lessons so you can progress at a comfortable, productive pace.

Can you help if I feel nervous about driving?

Yes. Tell me about any concerns before we start. We’ll take a calm, supportive approach, break skills into manageable steps and give you time to build confidence. Automatic lessons can also help reduce the pressure of managing clutch control and gear changes.

How long is each lesson?

A standard lesson lasts two hours, giving us enough time to introduce or develop a skill, practise it in different situations and review your progress without rushing.

How many lessons will I need?

There is no fixed number. It depends on your experience, progress, lesson frequency and any suitable private practice.

We’ll review your development regularly, so you’ll understand what you can do independently, what still needs work and how to focus your next lessons.

Do I need to pass my theory test before starting lessons?

No. You can start practical lessons before passing your theory test. Studying alongside your lessons can help you connect the rules and hazard awareness you learn with real situations on the road.

Can I take lessons if I already have a driving test booked?

Yes. Please include your test date and test centre in your enquiry. We’ll discuss your experience, the time available and the areas you need to practise.

Having a test booked does not guarantee that the lesson car will be available or that you’ll be ready to use it for your test, so it’s important to plan your preparation as early as possible.

Do you offer refresher lessons?

Yes. Automatic refresher lessons can help qualified drivers returning after a break, preparing to drive a different vehicle or wanting to feel more confident in particular situations, such as motorways, parking or busy traffic.

How do I arrange lessons?

Use the enquiry form to tell me your location, experience, goals and availability. I’ll contact you to discuss suitable lesson times and the best way to get started.

Lessons are arranged directly with me, so you’ll receive clear, personal guidance from your first enquiry onwards.

What if I need to cancel or change a lesson?

Please contact me as soon as possible. Notice requirements and any applicable charges are explained in the Terms & Conditions.

Ready to start learning?
