Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 23/10/2026
1. Your instructor and agreement
Your driving tuition contract is with Carlos Vaz, trading as CPV Driving School, a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor.
Email: carlos@cpvdrive.co.uk
Business address: 11 Vereth Road, Ramsgate, CT11 9NW
Where AA introduces you, AA acts as an introducing agent. Your tuition agreement remains with me. Relevant AA payment arrangements also apply to payments made through its system.
These terms will be provided before you book. Bookings are confirmed directly with me.
2. Lessons and payment
Lessons are automatic tuition. A standard lesson lasts two hours unless otherwise agreed.
- Individual lessons: £42 per hour
- 10-hour block: £400
- Intensive courses: individually quoted
Individual lessons and blocks must be paid for when booked. Intensive-course payment arrangements are set out below.
Bank transfer is the preferred payment method. Payments through AA are also accepted where arranged. Verified AA lesson credit transferred to my management system will be honoured, with the remaining balance and any applicable booking conditions confirmed.
Someone else may pay on your behalf. This does not automatically entitle them to information about your lessons.
3. Ten-hour blocks and refunds
Blocks are available to all pupils and should be used within six months of purchase.
I will extend this period where my availability prevents you from using your hours within that time. Other reasonable extension requests will be considered individually.
You can request a refund of unused hours before or after the six-month period. Completed hours remain charged at £40 per hour; unused hours are refunded at the same rate, less any valid cancellation charges.
Refunds will normally be returned to the original payer within 14 days of agreeing the amount.
4. Cancelling or changing lessons
Please give at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or rearrange a lesson without charge.
With less notice, or if you do not attend, a charge may apply up to the booked lesson price. It will reflect my reasonable net loss, taking account of replacement bookings and costs saved. If the entire slot is filled without loss, no cancellation charge will apply.
Please contact me through TotalDrive or email. Exceptional circumstances will be considered individually.
These arrangements do not override statutory cancellation rights explained below.
5. Late arrivals and cancellations by me
If you are late, the lesson will normally finish at the original agreed time. Please contact me if delayed. After 15 minutes without contact, I may treat the lesson as missed.
If I am late, I will make up the time by agreement or refund the time lost.
If I cancel a lesson, including because of illness, breakdown or unsafe conditions, you may choose to reschedule or receive a refund. If I end a lesson early for reasons outside your responsibility, unused time will be rescheduled or refunded.
6. Intensive courses
Your quotation will confirm the hours, schedule, total price and what is included.
A 50% advance payment is required when booking. The remaining 50% must be paid at least 48 hours before the course starts.
- Cancel at least 10 calendar days before the start: full refund.
- Cancel less than 10 calendar days before the start: a charge reflecting my reasonable net loss may apply, capped at 50% of the course price. Replacement bookings and costs saved will be taken into account.
- Cancel or miss an individual session during the course: the normal 48-hour lesson policy applies.
- End the course after it starts: tuition supplied and fair cancellation losses will be deducted, with the remaining balance refunded.
The same loss will not be charged twice. Statutory cancellation rights take priority where applicable.
An intensive course does not guarantee test readiness or a pass by a particular date.
7. Driving tests and use of the car
Test-day bookings are available for Canterbury and Herne Bay, subject to availability and my agreement that you are ready to drive safely on test.
The booking covers three hours plus £30, including collection, warm-up, use of the car for the test and return drop-off.
At the current individual rate, the total is £156. Alternatively, you may use three prepaid block hours and pay the additional £30.
The DVSA test fee is separate and is not included.
Please agree car availability with me before booking or changing your test.
Readiness assessment
For established pupils, I will assess readiness at least two weeks before the test and, where earlier, before the DVSA deadline for changing or cancelling without losing the test fee.
If you start lessons after that point, an assessment is still required. I cannot guarantee readiness or protection of your DVSA fee.
Readiness must be maintained. I may withdraw use of the car if your driving presents an unacceptable safety risk, explaining my reasons as soon as possible.
Test-day cancellations
The normal 48-hour cancellation policy applies to your CPV test-day booking, including where DVSA cancels at short notice for reasons outside my control.
Any charge will reflect services already supplied and reasonable net loss, allowing for replacement work and costs saved. It will not automatically be the full booking price.
If CPV cannot supply the agreed service, unused services will be refunded or transferred by agreement. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.
8. Licence and fitness to drive
Before your first lesson, you must provide a valid driving licence and a current DVLA licence-check report or check code so your entitlement can be verified. Tell me promptly about changes affecting your entitlement.
You must meet the legal eyesight requirements and be fit to drive. Tell me about relevant conditions, medication or support needs so suitable arrangements can be discussed.
You must not drive while impaired by alcohol, drugs, medication or fatigue.
I may refuse or stop a lesson where it cannot proceed safely or legally. Where this results from your failure to meet these requirements, a fair charge may apply up to the booked lesson price, reflecting tuition supplied and reasonable net loss.
9. Ending tuition
ou may stop lessons at any time, subject to valid cancellation charges.
I may end tuition for serious safety concerns, abusive or threatening behaviour, repeated non-payment or repeated breaches of these terms. Immediate termination may be necessary for serious misconduct.
Where your conduct causes a booked lesson to end early, a fair charge may apply for the resulting loss. Unused credit for future lessons will be refunded after valid deductions, and no further lessons will be arranged.
10. Price changes
I will give at least two weeks notice of price increases.
Hours already paid for will retain their agreed rate. New prices will apply to future purchases, and you may stop tuition if you do not wish to continue.
11. Statutory cancellation rights
Where your agreement is a qualifying distance or off-premises contract, you normally have 14 days after the day the contract is made to cancel without giving a reason.
To cancel, contact me by email, through TotalDrive or by post using the details above. You may use the cancellation form below, but any clear cancellation statement is sufficient.
If you expressly request lessons to begin during this period, you will pay proportionately for services supplied before you cancel. You lose the cancellation right once the contracted service is fully supplied only if you requested the early start and acknowledged this consequence beforehand.
Any refund due under these rights will be made within 14 days of being informed of your cancellation, using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.
12. Privacy, concerns and your rights
Please read the Privacy Notice for information about TotalDrive, lesson records, payments and any recording arrangements.
If you have a concern, contact me so I can investigate and try to resolve it.
Tuition will be provided with reasonable care and skill. These terms do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot legally be excluded. They do not affect your statutory consumer rights.
